He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, Canada (2008-2009), and earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Kingston University London, U.K. (2004-2008). Dr. Tesfa also holds dual MSc. degrees in Environmental Sciences from Mulhouse University, France (2001-2002), and Chemistry from Poitiers University, France (2000-2001). He began his academic journey with a BSc. in Chemistry from Poitiers University (1997-2000) and is currently pursuing a BA in Geez Language at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia (2019-2024), highlighting his interdisciplinary expertise and commitment to both science and cultural studies.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kibur Hunie Tesfa has served as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry at the University of Gondar since 2016. He has played a pivotal role in academic leadership, having chaired the committee that designed the MSc Medical Biochemistry curriculum and launched the program. Dr. Tesfa has actively contributed to the academic community by mentoring female academics in manuscript writing and publication, providing training on gender equality, and advising MSc students in Organic Chemistry and Medical Biochemistry.
