Yasmeen Shamsi earned her Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) degree from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in 1987. She further pursued advanced studies at Jamia Hamdard in New Delhi, where she completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Moalajat, a branch of Unani medicine, in 2003.

Teaching  Experience:

Dr. Yasmeen Shamsi has a distinguished career in medical education, with significant contributions as a clinical educator and researcher. From 1995 to 2001, she served as a Clinical Registrar at Majeedia Hospital, providing valuable clinical demonstrations to interns and students. She taught Tashreeh-wo-Munafaul Aza (Anatomy & Physiology) to B.U.M.S. first-year students at Jamia Hamdard from July to December 1999. Following this, Dr. Shamsi taught Ummor-e-Tabiya to first-year B.U.M.S. students at Jamia Hamdard from October 2001 to December 2012. Since January 2013, she has been instructing B.U.M.S. second-year students in Ilmul Amraz and B.U.M.S. third-year students, as well as MD (Moalajat) students in Moalajat, continuing her impactful teaching at Jamia Hamdard.

Dr. Yasmeen Shamsi has dedicated over 22 years to clinical research, focusing on a wide array of topics. As a Principal Investigator, she led several significant research projects at HNF, New Delhi. From 2000 to 2002, she examined the effects of Dam-Tab on blood glucose levels in Type-II diabetes mellitus patients and assessed the clinical efficacy of Marham Muhasa in treating acne vulgaris. Her research continued from 2001 to 2005, evaluating the pharmacological effects of Lipotab on lipoprotein levels, and a placebo-controlled, double-blind randomized trial of Qurs-e-Mafasil in rheumatoid arthritis. Between 2003 and 2006, she investigated the impact of Hairi oil and Hairi Plus oil on hair loss. Her subsequent projects, from 2006 to 2009, included a clinical study of Dawa-e-Musakkin for generalized anxiety disorder and an evaluation of Hamdoroid Capsule & Hamdoroid Ointment for hemorrhoids. She also studied the efficacy of a herbal formulation, ‘Diabeat,’ as an adjunct for controlling Type-2 diabetes mellitus from 2007 to 2011.

In her role as a Co-Investigator from 1995 to 1998 at HNF, New Delhi, Dr. Shamsi contributed to studies on Pitkirya Capsules for urticaria treatment, Entropher Tablets for irritable bowel syndrome, and the effectiveness of Qurs Supari Pak Jadeed and Unishaf Pessary for leucorrhoea associated with cervicitis and cervical erosion. Additionally, she co-investigated the clinical trial of Jigreen Syrup and Jigreen Tablet against viral hepatitis.
